The original author of these essays was Ingeborg Franke von Wangenheim.

When he’d finished that first reading, Wangenheim looked up, gazed around our circle, and asked for comments. He received none. Never having seen or heard anything like it, we were struck dumb. He asked us several times to discuss the piece, but none of us felt we had anything decisive to add. Not immediately, anyway. With one exception.

“Will audiences be comfortable with it?” someone asked. “Can they take all the…the harsh realities of the working class that you’ve packed in?”

Discussion in Josef Albers’ Preliminary Course at Dessau Bauhaus, 1927-28. (from arthistoryteachingresources-dot-org)
